Katy Waite

1972; Grad­u­ated Edin­burgh Art School: Won Andrew Grant Award for fur­ther study.

1973; Trav­elled & stud­ied; won a national archi­tec­tural glass award from the Wor­ship­ful Com­pany of Glaziers.

1973–1979; Taught art & exhib­ited stained glass in both Ger­many & Britain. Worked for Dierig Stu­dios in Uber­lin­gen, Ger­many design­ing for both pub­lic build­ings & churches.

1979–1999;Migrated to New Zealand. Based in Auck­land. Teach­ing at both Unitec & Michael Park School. Com­pleted major glass com­mis­sions in this time while help­ing to estab­lish the fac­ul­ties that are the respected insti­tu­tions they are today.

She has a broad range of com­mis­sioned glass work installed in pri­vate & pub­lic build­ings through­out New Zealand and Europe. The main image is of the front doors to the River Ridge East Birth Cen­tre in Hamilton. The brief was for a non-denominational theme since the cen­tre caters for all races & creeds.
